Stoopid is as stoopid does May 19, 2009

I read the metro every day. I don’t know why I do it, the paper only makes me angry. I must do it to myself as some sort of punishment, much like the way I look at the Daily Mail online and sit there silently shaking with anger at the stupid racist homophobic xenophobic arrogant c words that I just cant believe even exist never mind make a living out of twisting every news story to encourage their evil views. But with the metro I only get annoyed at their stupidity so I find I can read it on my journey to work without ruining my day. Also, its free.

Today marks their stupidest STUPIDEST “news story” ever. I accept it when they dedicate whole pages to opinion presented as fact, I ignore it when they let that gobsh*te Ross McDonagh loose on a full page article to attempt to pass off puns and sarcastic remarks as news but I CANNOT overlook an article with the caption “A new survey shows that smoking 20 cigarettes a day can cost you €3000 a year”

They had to commission a SURVEY to get some monkey to multiply 365 by €8?? Are they fucking kidding me??

Getting Off April 23, 2009

I usually leave any commentary on the DART system of Dublin to my co-blogger on Thoughts from the Edge, Miss Polly, but yesterday the train (and some passengers) enraged me. On my return from Blackrock, I took a commuter train. It was slow and spent prolonged periods at each station. When I arrived at my stop, I went to disembark. I pressed the large green button and waited for the automated doors to open. A group of about ten people gathered at the other side of the door, waiting to get on. Usually, there is an unspoken etiquette on buses and trains that you don’t enter until the other passengers have alighted. These passengers were having none of it. They fought their way onto the train, forcing me to push through them. The train was half empty. It wasn’t like they’d have to fight over seats.

Seriously people, have you no manners? If this happens again tomorrow, be afraid; be very fucking afraid!

The dart station was pretty empty this morning, I guess everyone took the day off after our national holiday pathetic excuse to destroy the city on a drink fuelled rampage. Now, I always stand in the same spot in the station because I know where the door stops. It wouldn’t take much effort for anyone else to do the same, they could either watch it for themselves or guesstimate how far away from me the next door would be. The method I do not condone is to stand directly behind me in an otherwise empty station! These people were so close THEY were on the yellow line! Did I mention the rest of the station was empty?? I had to run away! They could have killed me, they could have pushed me onto the tracks, they could have started to rub my hair and tried to kidnap me.

 

Seriously, there is something very wrong with the world. Now that strangers have managed to jump right inside my bubble, I don’t think anyone should be surprised if I go on a rampage*

 

*I don’t meant that in a murderous way, but expect everything around me to be very very clean very very soon.
